The recital of Frederic Kempf

A solo concert of a jury member Frederic Kempf took place in Veliky Novgorod within the framework of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition.

Frederik Kempf is a guest soloist of the Moscow Conservatory, the Konzerthaus (Berlin), the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) and the Barbican Hall (London), exclusive artist of the BIS Records (UK/Germany).

The First round auditions of the Competitions have ended

The First round of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition was held on March 22 and 23 at the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A. Arensky. 15 contestants from 8 countries of the world were competing.
The Second round will take place on March 24 and 25. The contestants will play accompanied by the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra. The auditions start at 7:00 pm.

The online broadcasts of the first days of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition have racked up more than 400,000 views

The total number of views of the online broadcasts of the events of the first two days of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition has reached over 400,000. To recall, all the events of the Competition are broadcast online on the official website https://rachmaninoff-youth.com and in its official group in the social network VKontakte, as well as on the Chinese portal Music Today.

“The team that came to us in Veliky Novgorod, those wonderful young colleagues, are well aware that they are winners already. We have no first, second, or third prizes, we have at least diploma holders and laureates. This is what we love very much: when, I hope, after the competition each of you will remain in this sacred place for every artist – on stage. The stage will always be in your life, I’m sure of it,” said Artistic Director Denis Matsuev at the Opening Ceremony of the Competition.

The Grand opening of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Competition

The Grand opening of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition took place on the stage of the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A. Arensky.

The competition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the outstanding musician was opened by the Governor of the Novgorod region Andrey Nikitin: “Dear friends, dear guests! I welcome you to the ancient Novgorod land. This is the land where the history of our country began, the assemblage point of the Russian history and culture. And, perhaps, it is not surprising that great people, such as Sergei Rachmaninoff, were born here.
I am very happy that this Competition has appeared, I am happy that it is taking place here, on the Novgorod land. I want to wish victory to all the participants, contestants. I am sure that future world stage stars will arise here.”

The Moscow Academic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yuri Tkachenko, performed music by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The soloist – Artistic director of the competition Denis Matsuev.

The International Youth Piano Competition will continue its work until March 26. Online broadcasts of all the stages of the contest will be supported by the largest Russian social network VKontakte. The exhibition “Rachmaninoff’s Universe”

The exhibition of the Russian National Museum of Music “Rachmaninoff’s Universe ” was opened in the Column hall of the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A. Arensky.

It was created on the basis of the richest artistic archive of Sergei Rachmaninoff, donated by the composer’s relatives and close friends to the museum’s funds over the years. For half a century these documents have served as a source of research work aimed at studying the creative heritage of Rachmaninoff. The exhibits include rare and little-known documents, the genealogical tree of the Rachmaninoff family, student works of the composer, the author’s manuscripts of both world-famous and less known pieces.

An exhibition of drawings “The World of Rachmaninoff” opened in Veliky Novgorod

An exhibition of the finalists and winners of the All-Russian drawing competition “The World of Rachmaninoff” was opened at the Children’s Music School No. 1 named after S. Rachmaninoff.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Minister of Culture of the Novgorod Region Ilianna Petrova, Deputy Director of the Russian National Museum of Music Evgenia Novoselova and the winners of the drawing competition Anastasia Grishakova (the Saratov Region), Valeria Klimova (Lipetsk), Oleg Yeresko (the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – UGRA) , Alexandra Timrova (the Belgorod region) and Alexander Chesnokova (the Saratov region).

Ilianna Petrova: 2023 is a landmark year for Veliky Novgorod. This is the year of art, the anniversary year of the great composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. I am very pleased to welcome you to this special place with a special atmosphere – the oldest Children’s Music School named after S. Rachmaninoff. We are very pleased to open a wonderful exhibition here today, which was created by young artists from various regions of our country. The geography is truly amazing. I want to note that all of the children were able to express in their works those feelings, thoughts, moods that they have associated with the name of Rachmaninoff. They did it so sincerely, so professionally that Rachmaninoff’s music literally sounds in every picture.

A concert “Towards the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition” took place on March 21 at the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A. Arensky

The start to the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition was given by Ivan Bessonov, the First Prize winner of the Rachmaninoff International Competition of Pianists, Composers and Conductors which was held with great success in 2022 in Moscow on the eve of the anniversary of the great musician. The Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yuri Tkachenko performed world-famous works by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

“The concert turned out to be very fast paced. I like such performances because it is a vibrant energy that charges you to be creative. Denis Matsuev knows how to create projects with a very warm and homely atmosphere, when you play and you get the feeling that only familiar people and friends who support you are sitting in the hall. There is no doubt that the Rachmaninoff youth competition will be held at a very high level. I wish all the contestants good luck and inspiration!” – Ivan Bessonov said after the concert.

The Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition opens in Veliky Novgorod

The Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition will be held from in March 21-26, 2023 – the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff – in Veliky Novgorod, the composer’s native region.
The official opening of the Competition will take place on March 22 at the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A. Arensky and on the eve of the Competition, on March 21, there will be an exciting concert featuring the gold medal winner of the Rachmaninoff International Competition of Pianists, Composers and Conductors Ivan Bessonov.

In total, 120 applications from 8 countries of the world were submitted to the competition: Russia, Belarus, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, China, Colombia, Norway and Uzbekistan.

15 pianists have been invited to participate in the first round of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition: Bakirov Lev (Russia), Diaz Padilla Daniel (Colombia), Iskorostensky Artur (Russia), Knyazev Alexander (Russia), Li Tianyu (China), Li Junjie (China), Mazurov Georgy (Russia), Nguen Duc Kien (Vietnam), Ming Rui (China), Fedor Orlov (Russia), Gleb Semyonov (Russia), Wu Xuanxiang (China), \ Wu Yifan (China), Ji Qinyaoyao (China) and Shadrina Iris (Belarus).

“I am very pleased that our competition has aroused interest not only in Russia, but also in other countries. And I am happy that in the jubilee Year of Rachmaninoff the hometown of this great Russian pianist, composer and conductor will become the center of attraction for the piano art lovers,” said Denis Matsuev, artistic director and chairman of the jury.

The skill of the contestants will be assessed by a reputable jury, which includes prominent cultural figures – famous musicians from Russia, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium and Vietnam – Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Frederic Kempf, Victor Yeresko, Zhania Aubakirova, Ta Quang Dong, Maxim Mogilevsky, Vladimir Tropp and Valery Pyasetsky. During the days of the competition in Veliky Novgorod the Russian National Museum of Music will present a unique exhibition “Rachmaninoff’s Universe”. Young artists from all over Russia took part in the competition. 224 works from 40 regions of the country were sent to the competition. The experts of the Russian National Museum of Music chose 40 finalists, 5 of which became the winners of the Competition.

Belarus

Born in 2004 in Minsk (Belarus).

A student of the Republican College of Music at the Belarus State Academy of Music.

Already at the age of 7 she gave her first solo concert performing 11 pieces of the “Children’s Album” by P. Tchaikovsky.

A laureate of numerous competitions and a winner of special prizes, including: the X International Competition for Young Pianists named after T. Nikolaeva (the Grand Prix and a special prize for the best performance of a piece by T. Nikolaeva, Bryansk), a three times laureate of the International Children’s Competition “Music of Hope” (Belarus, Gomel), the XXI International Competition for Young Pianists named after Maria Yudina (I prize. St. Petersburg), the XXVIII International Competition for Young Musicians maned after D. Kabalevsky (I prize. Samara).

A scholarship holder of the Yuri Rozum International Charity Foundation.

Along with improving her piano skills, Iris also tries herself as a composer of piano music.
