Contestants from Russia and China have become the Grand Prix winner of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition!

Artistic Director and Chairman of the Jury of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition Denis Matsuev announced the names of the Grand Prix the winners – the prize is split between Bakirov Lev (Russia) and Wu Yifan (China).

The Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition held from March 21 to 26 – in the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff ended today in Veliky Novgorod.

The competition was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Novgorod Region. ROSCONCERT with the participation of the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named A. Arensky organized and held the competition.

Special prizes from the Governor of the Novgorod region are awarded to:
– Shadrina Airis (Belarus) and her teacher Polyakov Alexander;
– Daniel Diaz Padilla (Columbia) and his teacher Komarov Alexei;
– Semenov Gleb (Russia) ;
– Ji Qinyaoyao (China)

Special prizes “to outstanding pianist» from the Yangze River piano company are awarded to Bakirov Lev (Russia), Li Junjie (China) and Wu Xuanxiang (China)

The Grand Prix winner will be announced at the end of the Award Ceremony and the gala concert of the laureates with the participation of the artistic director of the competition Denis Matsuev

The jury members of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition will give master classes in Veliky Novgorod

The jury members will give open master classes in Veliky Novgorod as part of the Rachmaninoff International Youth Piano Competition.

The master classes will take place on March 24 and 25 at the Concert Hall of the Novgorod Children’s Music School No. 1 and the Concert Hall of the College named after S. Rachmaninoff at 12:00.

The master classes will be given by People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhania Aubakirova (March 24); Honored Artist of Russia, Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Vladimir Tropp and People’s Artist of Russia, Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Vladimir Ovchinnikov (March 25).

Students of musical schools and secondary specialized musical educational institutions of the Novgorod region are invited to the master classes.

Shadrina Airis

Belarus

Born in 2004 in Minsk (Belarus).

A student of the Republican College of Music at the Belarus State Academy of Music.

Already at the age of 7 she gave her first solo concert performing 11 pieces of the “Children’s Album” by P. Tchaikovsky.

A laureate of numerous competitions and a winner of special prizes, including: the X International Competition for Young Pianists named after T. Nikolaeva (the Grand Prix and a special prize for the best performance of a piece by T. Nikolaeva, Bryansk), a three times laureate of the International Children’s Competition “Music of Hope” (Belarus, Gomel), the XXI International Competition for Young Pianists named after Maria Yudina (I prize. St. Petersburg), the XXVIII International Competition for Young Musicians maned after D. Kabalevsky (I prize. Samara).

A scholarship holder of the Yuri Rozum International Charity Foundation.

Along with improving her piano skills, Iris also tries herself as a composer of piano music.
